The GOP appears to be putting corporations ahead of society at every turn. The GOP refuses to accept facts regarding climate change, gun violence, immigration, the economy, and many other topics.
For example, the GOP removed the requirement to have people who are receiving disability benefits due to severe mental illness to be placed into the database that would cause them to fail a background check for buying a gun. The GOP’s talking point on gun violence is that it is a mental illness problem. The GOP wants to support the NRA’s efforts of expanding the number of potential gun purchasers to the detriment of society. It has been shown time and time again that an overwhelming majority of this country’s population is in support of universal background checks and yet, the GOP refuses to move on this issue because the NRA is against it. Background checks are not an attack on our second amendment rights
